About the Blog

This is a running record of the work Jason and Lena are doing to bring a 1978 VW Bus back to life. She was very close to death's door when we bought her.

We now have a functional vacationmobile that we are taking on adventures. So, this blog has morphed into a travelogue sprinkled with our break-down stories and latest upgrades. Hopefully more of the latter!

Look back in the archive for ALL the work we did to get her where she is today.

Enjoy :)

Some Doors and Some Annoying Discoveries

We got the doors and have installed all but the Sliding door as we are awaiting for a roller to ship.  We got sent the one of the other side (which only exists in Europe?!?)

Glass has been tinted and we got the passenger door window in.

Wiring is almost done - just have to run from the front to the back.  You will note that the dash is in!

We started building the engine and the stopped abruptly when the connecting rods (new) would not turn on the crank (freshly machined).  Turns out the supplier machined in between oversizes - in normal speak it was too big for the new bearings and to small for the old ones-  boo!

So we had to take it to a local machine shop to get it done again.

See you in the funny pages!
